Evening University of Marxism-Leninism (WUML) - form of mass training of party activists of the United United Workers' Party, established in 1952 and addressed to the provincial level apparatus (including KW Executive Members).
Functioning at the Provincial Committee of the Polish United Workers' Party in the framework of ideological education, WUML-e was the main element of preparation of communist cadres for the needs of party activity. WUML was based on a two-year study, with less than one-year course. The school year lasted from October to June. Classes were held once a week, in the afternoon, based on a semester and annual schedule. Teaching subjects were defined by the guidelines of the Department of Ideology of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers' Party. WUML studios and courses were located at the provincial committees, while the branches at the municipal and town-communal party institu- tions. Candidates for study were directed by party organizations and institutions. It has been suggested that these persons must have had at least secondary education, although it was possible to waive this condition in the case of a member of the workers' empowerment. The WUML lecturer could only be a member of the Communist Party holding a minimum of a Master's degree, and conducting lectures and seminars could be entrusted only to persons whose academic or professional preparation was consistent with the subject matter.
