Albert Gorton Greene


Albert Gorton Greene (born 1802, died 1867) - American lawyer and poet. He was born on February 10, 1802 in Providence, Rhode Island. He studied at Brown University. He obtained his diploma in 1820. Then he applied for John Whipple. In 1823 he was granted the right to practice as a lawyer. In 1832 he became a clerk in the Providence municipal council. In 1857 he became a judge and he held this office until his death. He died in Cleveland on January 3, 1867. He is known primarily as the author of the poem Old Grimes. Bibliography
